Response to the Draft Tertiary Education Strategy 2014-2019

Hon. Steven Joyce, Minister for Tertiary Education, Skills and Employment has released the DRAFT Tertiary Education Strategy 2014-2019 for consultation.  It can be found at the following link:

Consultation closes on 15 November 2013.
 
The new draft TES has six priority areas as follows:
  •     Delivering Skills for Industry
  •     Getting at-risk young people into a career
  •     Boosting achievement of Māori and Pasifika
  •     Improving adult literacy and numeracy
  •     Strengthening research-based institutions
  •     Growing International Linkages.

A kaupapa Māori assessment model has been developed that demonstrates the link between literacy learning and wellbeing for Māori learners. It addresses the need of Māori literacy providers for relevant and appropriate assessment models of wellbeing for Māori, and it complements the Literacy and Numeracy Assessment Tool for Adults.

Literacy and Numeracy Implementation Strategy

The TEC Adult Literacy and Numeracy Implementation Strategy sets out how the TEC will work with and across the tertiary sector, industry, government, iwi and the community to help strengthen and raise the literacy and numeracy skills of adults who are currently in or near to work. This strategy has been developed in consultation with sector stakeholders and other government agencies.
